Partitioning a hard drive in Windows involves creating separate sections on the disk for different purposes. Here are the steps to partition a hard drive using the built-in Disk Management tool:
Open Disk Management:
Press Win + X and select "Disk Management" from
the menu.
Locate the Drive:
In the Disk Management window, you'll see a list of all
available drives. Identify the drive you want to partition.
Shrink the Volume:
Right-click on the drive you want to partition and choose
"Shrink Volume."
Enter the amount of space you want to allocate for the new
partition in the "Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB" field.
Click the "Shrink" button.
Create a New
Partition:
Right-click on the unallocated space created after shrinking
and choose "New Simple Volume."
Click "Next" in the New Simple Volume Wizard.
Assign Drive Letter or Path:
Choose a drive letter for the new partition or select
"Mount in the following empty NTFS folder" if you want to mount it as
a folder.
Click "Next."
Format the Partition:
Choose the file system (usually NTFS) and provide a volume
label.
Check the "Perform a quick format" option.
Click "Next" and then "Finish."
Complete the Process:
The new partition is now created and formatted. You can see
it in Disk Management with its assigned drive letter.
